Your Top Three Emotions And How They Reveal The Results In Your Life

Feelings, or emotions, it seems like a bunch of wasted time to look at them, right?

Wrong.

Read on to find out why they are so important.

Feelings start in our brain. They are caused by something that we are thinking, when we feel the emotion, the brain sends out chemicals to the body, these chemicals create vibrations in the body.

Feelings are the third line in the Thought Model, they are a one word emotion that drives the actions you take with the things you do on a daily basis.

I have found that we as humans are pretty numb to our emotions. Discovering what emotions we are feeling is one of the first, and fundamental, things I teach.

Think about it for a moment, everything we want in life is because of how we think it will make us feel.

So now, think about what you want.

Then ask yourself what you really, really want (insert Spice Girl Wannabe lyrics).

Lastly, ask yourself how you think you'll feel when you get what you really want.

BINGO!

You want the feeling that thing will give you.

The next question I'll ask is how you can create that feeling now?

This is the magical work I do with my Awaken(TheTrue)You program clients.

I help them start to fill that void the have in their life. I teach them how to stop attempting to fill it with external things.

Once they are able to start closing that void their brain is free to start focusing on what they really, truly want in their life.

Then we start creating it.

They step off of their hamster wheel and into the life of their dreams.

They start creating the results that they didn't even realize they wanted to create.

It's beautiful.

Let's keep moving forward with some more awareness activities.

Ask yourself what your top three most common emotions are on a daily basis and why you feel them.

Here's a list to get you started.

If you're feeling brave go ahead and describe each feeling, then how you deal with each one.

Then ask yourself what are the top three emotions you want to have on a daily basis and why.

If you felt this way on a daily basis how might you show up differently in your life?

Showing up the way you want to show up will change your life forever.

The best part?

You don't even need to change any of the external things in your life for this to happen, like your job, your boss, spouse, child, friend, state, car, house.

If you struggle with feeling joy, excitement, enthusiasm, responsible, determined, proud and want help changing the results you are currently getting in your life then let's find some time to chat. Let's talk about whether working with me might be a fit for the next step in your life, you can book your free session here or send me an email with days and times that will work for you.

Make today the first day of the best days of your life!

Shame: What It Is, Why You Feel It And How To Set It Free

Let's start out with what shame is.

I love my coach instructor Jody Moore's definition of shame that she used in a recent coaching session:

It's what we feel when we do something that is out of alignment with who we want to be.

This has been the best description of shame for me because it resonates with me and when I feel shame. For me, it truly does come from times when I've done things that were way out of line from who I wanted to be as a human in this world.

The reason we feel the shame:

Judgement.

We judge ourselves negatively for doing the thing that we really don't want to do.

We think that if we beat ourselves up over what we did it will somehow make us change.

Kind of like thinking that yelling at our kids will make them change.

Thankfully, it doesn't work like that.

Thankfully because once we become aware of this truth we discover that the solution is within us, not outside of us.

We start realizing that beating ourselves up is giving us the opposite of what we truly want.

What actually happens is we start to get used to the feeling that shame generates and then continue to create the feeling over and over. Our body gets used to the chemical response and will continue to create it every time we do something out of line with who we ultimately want to be.

Our brain likes to look for what's wrong and you have trained it to continue to respond this way because you've done it enough times that it's now a conditioned response.

Let's look at some examples:

  • I ate what I told myself I wouldn't eat:
    • learned responses:
      • "I'm never going to learn."
      • "I'm stupid."
      • "What is wrong with me?"
      • "Of course I did that, I wouldn't expect anything better."
  • I yelled at my child:
    • learned responses:
      • "I'm an awful mom."
      • "I can't control my emotions."
      • "I'm ruining my children."
  • I spent money I didn't have:
    • learned responses:
      • "I don't know how to manage my urges."
      • "I'm irresponsible."
      • "I'll never have any money in the bank."

How to set it free.

The path to setting shame free is multi-faceted but let's take a look at how to start the journey.

  • The first step is to become aware of your negative self talk.
When we do something that is against the person we want to be just start to become curious about how you treat and talk to yourself. What do you say? Are you treating yourself with love and compassion? My guess is you are not.

  • Start journalling.

Write down what you did and all of the things you made what you did mean. Write down how those words make you feel. How that makes you show up for yourself.

  • Start generating new thoughts.
From the examples above they might look like:

    • I ate what I told myself I wouldn't eat:
      • new responses:
        • "I'm open to the idea that I can figure this out."
        • "It's possible that I'm smart."
        • "There isn't anything wrong with me"
        • "I am becoming the person that expects the best from myself."
    • I yelled at my child:
      • new responses:
        • "I am becoming the mom I want to be."
        • "I am learning how to control my emotions."
        • "My children are going to be amazing."
    • I spent money I didn't have:
      • new responses:
        • "Someday I will be able to allow my urges."
        • "I might be wrong about the thought that I'm irresponsible."
        • "I will be a person who has money in the bank."
With time, as you begin to believe the new thoughts, you will be able to create stronger thoughts that will take you to the person who recognizes shame before she lets it in the door.

With time you will be able say hello to shame and kindly ask it to leave.

You can become the person that tells shame that it is no longer welcome because you have replaced shame with self love, self compassion, self confidence.

If you are someone who struggles with shame I would love an opportunity to share a conversation about whether my program is a fit for you. As you become more confident in the possibility of you and creating the life you know you were created to live I'd love to encourage you to slide into the fast lane of your life purpose.

Coaching VS Therapy And How To Choose What's Best For You

When you have made the decision to be all in on you it's important that you know the difference between therapy and life coaching. Most of us are familiar with what a therapist does, yet the majority of people still feel shame around the prospect of "seeking help", they have this mistruth that if you seek guidance you are weak.

If this is the lie you are telling yourself then you are carrying around the wrong kind of pride and probably a bit of fear.

Let it go my friend, take control of your own destiny by learning how to smash the obstacles that you keep putting in the way of your best life.

When I finally set down my pride and decided I would no longer wanted to live a life of denial, I automatically turned to a therapist. I had been seeing a counselor with my husband, asked her for a referral and then started my journey.

It's all I knew. It's what most of us know.

But I want to spread light on what an impact a coach can do in the life of a highly functioning, successful person like yourself.

At about the same time that I picked up my courage to call a counselor, I stumbled across the Life Coach School and started absorbing their teachings.

Therapy was the catalyst that got me started on my journey to freedom from myself, yet it wasn't truly propelling me forward.

Coaching propelled me into my future self.

After working with a life coach all I can say is, for me, I most likely will never go back to therapy, even for my marriage or family.

Let's look at some specifics and differences.

Therapy

There are all sorts of therapy out there and I definitely believe there is good, solid reasons to utilize the different types based on a person's specific needs. Please do your own research to determine which therapy may be appropriate for you and your specific conditions.

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is the most like coaching because it focuses on a person's thinking, behavior and problem solving.
  • Psychotherapy is usually long term therapy that focuses on the past and unconscious thinking that drives present behavior. This can be an effective form of therapy for true repressed memories but often too past focused to be effective for a high-functioning person to move forward.
  • Psychiatrists are able to prescribe and manage medications.
  • Psychologists focus on psychotherapy and treating emotional and mental suffering with behavioral intervention
  • Marriage and family therapists (MFTs) focus on the dynamics of marriage between both parties and the larger dynamic of family relationships.
  • Exposure therapy
This is not an all inclusive list so again, please do your own research. Therapy is a regulated industry which means they are licensed and take insurance.

Basically, therapists will help you recover from past trama, help you work through depression/anxiety when it is affecting your ability to function and help you through a divorce or loss of a loved one.

Life Coaching

Let me start off by comparing life coaching to what I did for the athletes I coached for 28 years with my company On Track Training. I would find out where the client was right when I met them, find out where they wanted to be and then take them on the path to getting there. I would ask questions about their history up to when we met to collect data, which helped me determine how we would create the path. I was the trained professional athlete they were looking for, I gave them enthusiastic support and guidance as well as giving them my objective perspective and insight.

That is exactly what I continue to do as a life coach but now with my client's life. I am a trained professional who guides you into maximizing your potential and attain your desired results.

I talk to my client about where they are now, then find out where they want to be and then lead them along the path between here and there.

I specifically work with my clients to help them create the life they know they were destined to live. I help them figure out what that looks like and then guide them along the way to making it reality.

I am an expert at transforming women's lives.

Life coaches do not diagnose, they will simply identify and describe current problematic behaviors and help the client work on modifying them.

Life coaches take their clients to the highest levels of performance and life.

We are experts at producing the highest level of positive change in their client's life.

We focus on the present and future while advancing the client's potential.

People that hire a life coach are already knocking life out of the park, they are already successful but they want to succeed at a higher level and faster.

We help you create the future of your dreams, now.

I love how my coach, Brooke Castillo, states that coaching essentially assumes that the client is okay and is full of potential, whereas therapy assumes the client is "sick" or "dysfunctional" and seeks to heal them so they function "normally".

Once you feel confident, are able to set down your pride and let go of the denial that you can do it on your own, I'd love to talk to you about whether a life coach is a fit for you.

Hiring a life coach does not mean you aren't good enough to do it on your own, it means you're wise enough to seek the guidance that will blow up your true potential.

Pride, Women, My Mission And How They All Tie Together

As I was doing some coaching work on my past eating addiction the idea for this post was born. I was doing the work of looking at an event, this was one long event, from the past and re-writing my story about it. This practice allows you to take a negative story from your past and release it by telling the story in a way that empowers you.

If you haven't done this work, let me tell you, it is life changing.

While doing this work my brain exploded a bit around pride, so let's just talk about what pride is and how you can use it for or against, not only yourself, but others.

Let's start with just two different types of pride, positive and negative pride, and then dig into how they not only affect you but others.

Positive pride.

Positive pride is when we have confidence in ourselves, self respect. When we are proud of our achievements and the achievements of others.

I also had a bit of brain explosion as I went deeper into my reflection when I realized that the opposite of positive pride is to be ashamed of yourself or someone else.

Let me tell you a truth right now, if someone else is ashamed of you that means absolutely NOTHING about you and your worth. You are fully worthy, no matter what anyone else says or does to you.

Negative pride.

Negative pride is when we have a false sense of superiority over others. It comes from a place of conceit and arrogance.

Note the word false.

This ultimately comes from lack of self confidence and self respect because we are insecure in ourselves. We are afraid of exposing ourself because of what others might think.

This kind of pride will keep us from seeking out help for ourself, or even our close loved ones. It makes us think about what others will think, keeping us from doing what is right for ourselves or for others who might need our support.

How can this affect others?

If you are asking this question then congratulations, you have been not just reading my content but doing the work of applying it.

Most people would believe that if we are proud or neglectful of others that it would affect them by causing them to either feel good or bad. If you have been reading my content you know that another person cannot make us feel a certain way, it is our own thoughts that create our own feelings, actions and results.

Here is where my mind exploded a bit.

As parents we have a responsibility of raising the next generation. As parents we come into this role with all sorts of our own hurts, habits and hang-ups which will influence how our little ones will start to make decisions for themselves.

This is why I am so on mission to help as many women as I can end their life of insecurity, worthlessness and self loathing.

When a woman gets out of her own way, starts loving herself, starts honoring herself, starts becoming proud of who she is and what she does, she passes that on to the next generation.

My true passion is children and ingraining in their developing brains that they are fully lovable, no matter what they do. My way of being able to do that right now is through the women who are influencing these beautiful minds.

If you change who you are today into the woman of possibility, what an impact you will have on the world.

This is why I do what I do.

Let's change the world, one brain at a time.

The gift of help is the gift that could literally change a person's life.

One Difference Between Those Who Achieve Their Goals & Those Who Don't

I am starting to see a pattern in my clients and the success that they achieve, or that they don't achieve.

Their level of success started with their belief of whether they could succeed or not.

Bottom line factor is their level of belief in their ability to achieve the desired result, starting from the very start of the program.

It's super interesting because looking back from my new perspective as a life coach, allows me to go back into 30 years of client case studies.

Those who achieved massive results were not the ones who were genetically gifted.

The ones who achieved massive results believed that they would.

They were solid in both their belief of themselves and my program.

They were able to take the mind management tools and implement them to deepen their belief.

They were able to visualize themselves as the person they wanted to be at the end of the program.

They believed so hard that they were already putting into action that person from the future, thinking with her evolved brain.

I can even see this in my own work.

There were many obstacles where I couldn't see myself on the other side.

You know what's funny? I never made it to the other side of those obstacles.

Every obstacle where I could see myself on the other side, before it happened, where I believed with my heart that I could achieve success to get to the other side, where I was living as that future person,  those are the times I made to the other side.

I laid out the strategies to overcoming the obstacle and I followed through with completing those strategies and coming up with new plans if I hit failure.

Read that again.

When I hit failure, I re-assessed, came up with a different plan and kept moving forward.

Because I believed.

People who believe don't give up.

People who believe look at the facts and come up with another route.

This my friends is what I want to leave you with.

Achieving success means that you will fall down and need to pick yourself up. Possibly start over, but with a whole new set of tools and beliefs.

So I want to ask you:

Are you comfortable living with your old results?

Would you be more comfortable living with the results of your dreams?

Me too.

We have two options:

Live in the comfort of your past life or live in the discomfort of getting to your new life.

If you do the latter then you will continue to evolve your comfort into something greater than your past comfort.

Doing what you've always done is fine for some people, totally cool, but if you're wishing for something different, then you have to go make it happen.

Hello discomfort. I love getting comfortable with getting uncomfortable.

Last question I have for you:

What would your future self, the one who has already overcome that next obstacle, say to you while you stand in front of that barrier?

I love learning how to live today as though I've already achieved my next impossible goal.

I love talking to my future self and asking her what she would do.

I love it when she points out my old thinking and reminds me that I'll never become her unless I believe hard in something bigger than defeat.

If you are struggling to achieve your next dream or maybe you don't even know what that dream is. Maybe you're just being comfortable doing the same old, same old, but you know when you talk honest talk with yourself that you want more for your life.

If that's you then I'd love to have a conversation with you to determine whether you want to work with me to help you figure this out. I'd love to help you unlock the door to your future, that door that you maybe even haven't found yet.

When you find the belief that you can do this then send me an email, before your belief runs to the corner and hides. Like it always does.

This time is going to be different!

P.S. This, by the way, is what I do for you. I help you assess what is happening for you, what struggles you are bumping up against. Kind of like opening up your brain and showing it to you. It is the best thing ever, in my humble opinion!

Ending Your Time Management Battle FOREVER

Let me guess.

You are too busy to get all of the things done that you tell yourself you need to do.

You have a list of things you want to do, and while you do succeed with crossing some of the things off, it seems like the things you add are winning at the task management game.

No matter what shiny new system you implement it always seems to end the same way: too many things and too little time.

I was the queen of the lists, often starting a new list every day during my quiet time so that eventually I had a list pile. That was fun.

My guess is that if you're reading this post that you too struggle with getting all of the things done and this post could be just another one of those posts you read but don't fully implement.

If you are reading this post and choose not to just read it, but actually take the massive action of implementing these tips and dedicate yourself to the work it will take to make them succeed, it will do more in your life than get you doing all of the things.

If you choose to take the massive action of honoring your commitment to yourself it will literally change your life completely.

The tips I am going to share with you are just a few of the key things that I did to finally end my time management battle.

I finally have gotten myself through the most difficult steps of the system, managing my mind drama through the process, and am now fine tuning. This will be an ever evolving process where, as my mind becomes more clean, more powerful, I will start achieving more and more of what I want to accomplish while being able to take more and more time for myself.

I can't keep this to myself so let me show you my best tricks.

Once a week, I suggest Monday morning, take an hour and do a complete to do download.

I use the same notebook strictly dedicated to this task though you could do it in any journal/notebook, even your bullet journal, or scrape paper. I write down all of the things I want to get done, both personal and business.

Then ask yourself these questions:
  • What do you want to do?
  • What do you have to do?
  • What do you need to do?
  • What do I wish I would do?
  • What are the consequences of not doing each task?

Then say out loud "I don't have to do any of this.", because it's true. You do not have to do any of it.

Then cross off anything you choose not to do.

Decide what tasks you might be able to delegate.

Then prioritize the remaining list in terms of when it needs to get done.

Break each task down by the obstacles you will encounter in finishing this task and the strategies to completing the obstacles. These strategies are the steps to completing your task. Decide how long each will take and then schedule it on your calendar.

Always schedule your personal time first and then fill in the rest.

Once you do this then you throw your to do list away and start working on managing your mind around what you told yourself to do.

Let me just help you out a moment with my best piece of advice. This is NOT something you're going to do once and magically you're organized and getting everything done.

This is just the first step because then what will happen is mind drama will come up. Don't forget that your old self is still the one in control of you and your mind. Your old self tells you that you should go do something more appealing than what is up on your calendar. Your old brain neurological pathways are going to tell you that you can't do this, that it will never work.

This is where the coaching comes in.

This is where learning how to use The Thought Model will start you on the road to success.

Trust me, if this can work for me, it will work for you, the first step is believing. Hard.

The next step is to start learning how to trust yourself.

If you struggle, like I did, with being down in the dumps about all of the things you're never able to get around to then I would love to share a free, no obligation, coaching call with you. In this session we will talk about what your biggest struggle in life is right now, what it is that keeps you from living a completely fulfilled day, every day. You don't have to do anything but set down your fear of judgement, I will walk you through and put you at ease. It's fun, just send me an email with some days and times that are convenient for you and I promise to make one of them work.

I can't wait.

Why Avoiding Conflict Creates More Conflict & How To Get Good At Resolution

Conflict is a struggle, or opposition, of ideas or interests.

The conflict may just be within yourself or it may be with one or many other persons.

It's possible that you are the only one aware of the conflict because you are avoiding bringing it out in the open. Maybe you are agreeing, apologizing or even accommodating the person you are in opposition to.

It's possible you were never taught how to deal with conflict effectively. This can be true if you watched parents scream and yell at each other, never coming to resolution verses watching them sit down and discuss the struggle out loud and openly. Even the opposite can be true with one parent avoiding conflict by never addressing their struggles therefore again, never allowing you to witness healthy conflict resolution.

Healthy conflict resolution is something that is important for us to develop so that we can start cultivating more strong, trusting relationships with everyone in our life.

Here is how avoiding conflict can create more conflict:

  • You resisting what is going on by avoiding and not processing
  • You build up negative emotion
  • You don't figure out how to clean up your thoughts

When we take the time to look at what is happening for us with any struggles or opposition we are having with someone it is healthy for us to do a few things:

Take a look at our thoughts, what is going on in our brain, by doing a thought download.

Look at how these thoughts are making us feel and then how these feelings are making us show up.

This will show us the result we are getting.

At this point we can decide whether we are wanting to change our thoughts so that we get a result that we want or not.

Possibly we do want to change our thoughts to get a result that we like, yet it's also possible that we will want to talk to the other party and discuss what is going on for us.

The one thing you must always remember is no one else is in charge of your happiness, so the objective is not to control them by telling them how they need to act to make you feel good.

That is your job.

Still, you may want to clarify what is happening for you.

Let me give you an example.

Let's say you have a husband, I may or may not know of one, who has committed to dog sitting a puppy during time, two days to be exact, when you, that would be me, will be at home working and husband will be away from the home working.

I could get angry and just let it happen, maybe take it out a bit on said husband.

I could do a thought download and decide how I want to handle the situation out of love for myself.

Then make a decision as to what I'm going to do and be all in and in love with my choice

The latter is what I have chosen to do. The old me would have taken it out on husband from the time it was announced until who knows when.

With choosing the way I did, making the choice to think I am going to enjoy this little puppy, which makes me feel helpful, which allows me to take the action of planning my days so it works for me, loving the puppy, ask husband to clarify story of how this came about so that I fully understand scenario, ask husband to, in the future, please check with me before volunteering my time but also recognize that he may not follow through, decide how I will deal with the situation if it arises again.

If you are a conflict avoider like I used to be and would like to discover how to start feeling better about how you deal with the struggles that life will always present to you, then I would love to offer a free mini-session to help you feel some freedom. All you have to do is grab on to some courage and send me an email, the feeling of fear will vanish once you hit the send button.

Four Reasons Why You Aren't Doing What You Want To Do

The old me would have told you that I just don't get to do all of the things I want to do because I just didn't have the time.

"I mean really, do you know what it's like to own and run your own successful business?!?"

Funny thing is that after thirty years of running my own successful business and now launching a shiny, brand new version of that business, I totally DO get to do all of the things I want to do.

What's different?

Well, it certainly isn't because there are less things to do in this business. Yes, it is less multi-faceted, for right now, but I also don't have a full time employee plus a handful of part-timers. It's all me.

I am what is different.

Over the past two years I have been doing the work of changing my life around because I decided two years ago that I wanted my life to be different. I was tired of being happy but yet at the same time, being completely unhappy. I desperately knew something had to change or I would be living the rest of my life in misery and that my friends, sounded miserable.

So what is the reason we don't do what we want to do? Well, here are just a few:

We are creating way too much drama in our life around all of the things.

  • We can't stand ourselves
  • There isn't enough time
  • There are too many things I HAVE to do
  • The kids...
  • The job...
  • We don't have enough money

Once we learn how to manage our minds, magically all of the drama starts to disappear.

We don't trust ourselves.

We tell ourselves, every day, how we're going to do all of the things. We come up with these crazy plans to do them all and then at the end of the day, when most of them aren't done, we beat ourselves up because we can't figure this out.

We tell ourselves what a failure we are.

We think about all of the people who do have their drama tied up and packaged neatly with a bow and then start all over the next day.

This cycle of letting ourselves down over and over is like that friend that never shows up to the party. You don't trust her to show up yet you still invite her.

This leads to the last reason.

We don't know how to make a decision ahead of time and then follow through.

We haven't learned how to just make a decision and move forward. We pride ourselves in "doing the research", coming up with the laundry list of why it won't work and then why it will. So much so that we never even make a decision, or by the time we do the opportunity is over. We just plain spend a whole lot of time and energy that could have been spent moving forward from a decision made earlier.

We are afraid to make a decision.

What I have learned is that making a quick decision feels completely amazing. It clears up your mind and allows you to start moving forward with all of your things. It's possible you will discover it was the wrong decision. Totally cool, now you can move forward in a new direction, nothing lost and everything gained.

We want to do it perfectly.

Perfectionism is such a lie.

If you have been priding yourself on being a perfectionist, please stop.

Perfectionism is the reason we don't move forward, it's why people procrastinate.

Fear of not doing something perfectly.

I actually used to feel bad when I thought "who cares, at least it's done", getting pulled into perfectionism by thinking I wasn't as good as those who claimed to be. Can you see how poor my self image and self trust was? This is so crazy to me now!

The book that totally released me from the perfectionism procrastination was Dan Sullivan's "The 80% Approach". Dan helped me to realize that I was putting my tasks off until the last minute and then truly only doing 80% work. Now I schedule the work, do it when I decided to do it and give it my 80%. Beautiful. It propels me forward and allows me to schedule shorter future times in my schedule to do another 80% a few times over.

Now that's pretty close to perfection, the easy way!

I actually could have WAY more than four reasons but for the sake of time I stopped here. My freedom program addresses them all!

If you are like I was and have a long list of things you want to do in this life but you're not getting any of them done, then I would love to have a conversation with you. Four Ways To Tell If You're A People Pleaser & Steps To Stop

I was the biggest people pleasers out there, often doing things for other people. I thought I could make other people happy. I thought I could make other people like me by saying yes to them.

One of my problems is I also love to get involved in all sorts of things but this used to come at the expense of the things I valued the most.

Constraint has helped me a whole lot in this area. Now when I'm asked if I want to do something instead of jumping all over it because it sounds like so much fun, I take a moment to think about my time and what I'm really focusing on at the moment.

Let's look at some ways to tell if you're a people pleaser and then let's look at ways to start being a you pleaser.

You say yes because it sounds like an amazing opportunity but you are in dread when you think about it.

There is a possible mixed bag of things going on here and it's important for you to unpack it.

First I'd like to encourage you to work on your decision skills. As a people pleaser you may want to tell the asker that you'll get back to them so that you have some time to truly decide what you want to say. Then give them a time deadline of when you'll get back to them and honor that deadline. Please make sure that you are all in with your decision, love your reasons either way.

Once you love your reasons continue to remind yourself of those reasons. As the event approaches and you're finding yourself regretting your choice remember your all in decision and be all in. If it was a no and you're finding yourself regretting not attending then again remind yourself of your all in decision to say no, love it and be all in on whatever else it is you chose to do in that time.

If your answer is no, really start working on just saying no without excuses. It's completely ok to say that you're not able to help out, if it's just for this time and you want to be considered for the future then say that, but ONLY if you mean it.

You offer to do things for people that you really don't want to do.

This was a problem for me in my marriage because I did things to get love in return for what I did. What happens here is that of course, people can't make you feel love, that comes from within yourself. Eventually what happens is we start to resent the other person because they're expecting you to keep doing what you always did. You now stop doing what you always did and the other person is completely confused, with you having the result of resenting yourself.

Make sure your offer is coming from a place of love from within yourself, not for the reaction of the other person. When you do this you get the result of creating love for yourself because you're doing what you really want to do.

Stop and ask yourself before you decide to do something for someone if you are doing it from a place of love for yourself, with absolutely NO expectations from the other person. This is not people pleasing, this is self love.

You have a difficult time ending a conversation or leaving a party.

I am waving my hand high here because this had ALWAYS been a problem for me! What would happen is I would stay on the phone longer than I wanted, get resentful and then I'd end abruptly. Same at parties, as a matter of fact sometimes I would even ditch without saying goodbye. This my friends is all about people pleasing by completely attempting to control what people think of you.

My suggestion for stepping out of this one is to be super intentional. Make a phone call to someone, decide how long you'll talk and then honor yourself with your decision. If you stay on the phone longer decide to do it out of love for yourself, maybe you're really enjoying the conversation and want to stay on. Again: love your choice.

At parties visualize telling the host goodbye and just do it. Be uncomfortable. Thank them for inviting you and let them know what a great time you had. They may be sad that you're leaving, it's ok, staying won't make them happy, it will be their thoughts that will make them happy. Again, if you choose to stay later, love your reasons and don't go into resentment, fully love yourself along with the reasons you choose to stay.

You guys, I love all of this and helping all of you see how your actions may not truly be coming from a place of true love in yourself but from trying to find love outside of yourself. This just doesn't feel good, it always leaves us feeling empty.

Honoring ourselves and following through with what we say we're going to do builds trust and love in ourselves and truly sets us free to love others unconditionally. This is true freedom my friends.

If you want to work on your journey to self freedom on a level that creates massive change in your life then let's find time to talk. God has created the perfect path in my life to understand everything you are going through in your struggles. I want you to know it's ok, your life can start brand new today and I can't wait to watch you fly free.

Three Steps To Changing Your Past Life Story

My personal transformation process really started to kick in when I finally decided I was tired of hiding and tired of fighting with my past life story.

There was definitely plenty of transformation going on prior to that, the biggest transformation happening when I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior.  So many beautiful things happened after this point in my life but, as we humans like to do, I continued to hold on to past regret, resentment and disappointment. Though I knew that I had been washed clean I still a practice of rehashing my past, blaming others and myself for things I had done wrong.

Then I found The Life Coach School where my Master Coach Brooke Castillo literally changed my brain around the past. She helped me to clearly see how this energy I was spending was affecting my life. Her teachings helped me to see that my past was perfect, it happened, it can't be changed and how I was giving so many other people power over my current life.

Then through the teachings of Rick Warren in The Purpose Driven Life, it truly sank in how I was perfectly imagined even before I was placed in the womb of my mother. How He knew everything I would do before I had done it, how He had allowed it all.

As I do this work, continuing to peel the layers back, I clearly see how I didn't understand my worth. How I made some poor choices because I didn't matter to me. What truly matters is that He knew my worth and He covered my poor choices in love and protection.

He saw way more in me than I saw in myself.

Step one is truly understanding your worth.

You are worthy, no matter what. No matter what you've done. No matter what anyone has done to you. No matter what anyone else tells you. No matter what you tell yourself.

Everyone is worthy.

Anything else is a lie.

Step two is understanding that your past is perfect.

I know this seems like a hard lump for some of you to swallow but please stay with me.

You cannot change your past, no matter how long you argue with it, it will never change.

The only thing that you can change is how you think about it. When I realized the energy I was spending on my past and how it was taking so much away from what I could build in my present and future, the light bulb went out.

Yes. I said out. I turned the light out that I was shining on pieces of my past. Yes, I do continue to turn that light on but less often and when I do turn it on I am starting to see something different. I am starting to see a beautiful young girl trying to find her way in this world.

I see people in that beautiful girl's life who also were hurt and struggling with their own life stories.

I have taken the power I was giving to other people back for myself. I am using all of that extra power to build a crazy good life for myself and the people in it. I am sharing this work with other beautiful women like myself, that makes my heart full and I believe that makes the heart of Jesus full as well.

Step three is to start sorting through your past life events that cause you pain.

One of the first things I did was to sit down and write my life story, that in of itself was cleansing. Then really start recreating the story, notice how we are laser focused on certain details in the story, completely forgetting other details. Notice how other people may actually tell the same story differently, we all take different pieces away from the exact same situation.

Here is a process that can be helpful for you:

  1. Write about that event.
  2. Write your current story about that event.
  3. Write down the facts of that event.
  4. Write down the story that you really want to tell yourself about what this particular event means.
  5. Write down what you want to keep from this event, something that is powerful and strengthening.
  6. Write down what you can now let go from this story.
For some of our most painful experiences this may be a process that you will want to do multiple times until your new story is true and your old story has been released.

As I do this work some of what I wrote in the beginning of this post was a recent breakthrough: that God saw more in me than I saw in myself.

This makes me strong.

This makes me grateful.

This makes overcome.

If you're ready to start re-writing your past life story and taking the massive action of moving into a future where you are all in and in love with life then getting over your past is a perfect place to start!

Five Reasons Why Your Transformation Journey Isn't Working

I coach women who want to transform their lives, women who want to achieve what seems impossible, women who want to send their careers soaring while having fun doing it.

I coach women change their story line from being the victim to being the hero.

Watching this journey is incredibly beautiful, like watching tightly bound peony bud blossom into full bloom, magical.

Though the journey is magical to watch it isn't without it's struggles. The process of changing deeply engrained patterns of the mind isn't something you do with ease, it takes strength and persistence.

All of the years I worked with athletes I could tell the difference between those who would succeed in their goals and those who wouldn't. The beautiful thing about what I do now is that I actually coach people on why they aren't succeeding so even when they don't succeed their brain still changes, even if it's just a bit.

You have to be committed to doing the work to get the expected results. If you do some of the work you will see some results, they will come slower than when you take massive action and do all of the work. When you take massive action and do all of the work you will see massive results, guaranteed.

Let's get into some of the reasons your journey to becoming your next best version of you may not be working so that you can do some honest evaluation and, if you're up for the work, start moving forward to your new amazing life.

You don't believe this will work.

This is typically the first problem. This work is different from anything else you've ever done, it seems counterintuitive and a bit of what I call "mind bendy".

This is because we have been thinking a certain way for most of our lives, changing those patterns takes work and repetition. Your brain is going to want to tell you that it's not working, that you should just do what you've always done, it doesn't like change.

You can tell your brain to chill, that this is all going to be ok and that you are re-creating your beautiful you.

You're striving for perfection.

Perfection my friend will stop you from creating your dreams all day long.

Perfectionists are liars, there is no such thing so stop it now and stop telling everyone you're a perfectionist. It's not something to be proud of.

Tell yourself that you will strive for 80% work, B+ work. This will get you moving forward and allow you to just do what it is you said you were going to do without the fear of it not being perfect. Just get it done and if you have time, go back and work on doing another 80% on your first 80%!

You're not fully applying the techniques.

This is like those clients I had that weren't fully successful in their health and wellness goals. They thought that taking the step of hiring a coach was going to create the results and then they would let themselves down by not applying the work. This doesn't work.

This was what I did in the beginning of hearing the techniques I used to create my own personal freedom. I consumed the information but didn't fully apply them. I kind of applied them but when I liked enough of what I had been hearing I hired a coach and applied everything she taught me.

Funny, I saw massive results.

You're not evaluating your progress.

This is one of the most important things I have learned how to do and have honored myself in doing. Sometimes I don't want to do this, I think it's going to take too much time, but seeing how far we've come is so important.

Our brain wants to continue to tell us that we still aren't good enough, that we still are not perfect, that we should just give up, go sit on the couch and eat chocolate.

Our brain is funny like that. It really wants to protect us but if we aren't fully aware of what it's doing it will keep us from moving forward.

You're making your fails mean that it's not working instead of using your fails as learning experiences that will move you forward.

You can make failing whatever you want it to mean and again, the brain really wants to just protect you from hurting yourself.

Failure is ok, it doesn't mean anything about you and your worth but I imagine that most of your life that is what you've made it mean.

Now you are doing the work to change that, you are doing the work of changing your brain and telling it that failure is just information. Let me say that again.

Failure is just information along the way to your success. It's data for you to analyze and to use to figure out what went wrong so you can work on what you will do next time.

I believe in you friend. I know you can do this.

You are one strong woman out there doing amazing things in the world.

I know you have the capability to do more but not just do more, but to do more and to have fun doing it!

Adopt These 5 Thoughts To Create Your Future Self

Thoughts.

We have around 60 - 80 thousand per day.

Some of them are thoughts we think on the regular.

Thoughts that we think on the regular tend to become our beliefs.

My clients share these thoughts with me daily and it's very hard for them to see how to start changing them, they have become so solid that they belief them to be true and unchangeable.

Thoughts like:

"I'm just not good at creating friendships."

"I am just a procrastinator."

"I'm not a good cook."

"I'm just not coordinated."

"My life is difficult."

These toxic thoughts are one of the first things my clients start working on. As abstract as it may seem, it is crucial work on the journey to achieve what seems impossible.

Our thoughts can either drag us down, keeping us stuck or lift us up while propelling us forward.

The beautiful thing is that you get to decide what thoughts you choose to keep, which ones you want to stop believing as well as which ones you want to start thinking.

If you choose to start thinking some amazingly positive thoughts, over time those thoughts WILL become new beliefs.

You get to chose, I have chosen to change the direction of my thoughts and today I'm sharing some of mine with you.

I welcome you to adopt them as your own or even better, choose some of your own to start thinking.

I am committed to believing that my past life story is fully beautiful.

I am committed to believing that everything happens for me.

I am committed to believing that I am perfectly and beautifully created.

I am committed to believing that I am in control of my destiny.

I am committed to believing that I am fully worthy and capable.

I can't wait to hear what beautiful new thoughts you are choosing to think, what new beliefs you are starting to believe.

If this journey sounds exactly like something you need in your life then I would love to give you the road map to start creating what appears to be impossible. I did it, I am doing it and I am guiding others along their own path of creating their own impossible.

Three Ways To Bring Romance Back Into Your Relationship

There was a time when you were truly in love with your spouse, like you wanted to spend every moment with them, they were the center of your life.

Now of course you love them, but really, you can't stand them. If they would just do all of the things you needed them to do, say all of the things you want them to say, then life would be happily ever after.

Often times in the beginning of relationships we do all of the things that will make the other person show us love in return. We aren't our true selves, we're looking for love from outside of ourselves.

If this is the case we typically haven't learned how to generate love for ourselves. As the relationship starts getting comfortable, or as the old saying goes, once the honeymoon is over, we get tired of the work that goes into trying to get someone to make us feel good.

We start to resent the fact that they aren't just doing the same things they did, to make us feel good, even though we're not doing the same things we used to do to generate the reactions that they gave us the feeling of love.

This is the beginning of the breakdown.

We don't really pay too much attention in the beginning of the breakdown but as time goes on we start to wonder if there is any hope.

I have some amazing news my loves, there most definitely is.

I know this because this was me in my marriage.

Even better news is that you don't even need your partner to be a part of your game to re-create a hot, steamy, romantic, loving, fun relationship.

All it takes is you.

Ready? Let's start this!

Make a list of all of the things you want your love to do and then, do it for them.

I know, this most likely isn't the first thing you wanted to hear but honestly, why do you want them to do the thing? Because YOU want it done? To make YOU happy? Then I suggest you do something amazing for yourself and do that thing for yourself OR just choose to let that thing not be done.

When we put our happiness in the hands of others we are bound to be let down, over and over again.

My guess is you have an operating manual for your spouse. A manual that lists all of the things you want them to do to make you happy. It's even possible that if you typed the manual out and gave it to them and they actually followed it, that you still wouldn't be happy.

The best thing I have done is put my happiness in my own hands, not in the hands of someone else.

You know what's perfect about this? I know exactly what I want and I can either take care of it myself or politely ask my spouse to do it for me but if he doesn't I have to take my power back and make sure I take care of myself.

I hear your argument. I know them all because they were mine. What I learned is that I was never fully happy putting my happiness in the hands of someone else.

Neither will you.

Challenge yourself to do something uncomfortable.

Step number one might be that one thing. Maybe it is putting that laundry basket away even though it had your husband's clothing in it. When you take the focus off of why he's not doing it and focus on the fact that it's you that will feel amazing when it's put away, you take back your control.

I'm thinking something even more uncomfortable but the above could be a start. I'm thinking more along the lines of hmmmm....when's the last time you gave your spouse a long hug and told them how much you appreciate everything they do (not for you) and really say it from the heart?

Feel uncomfortable? Why? What is it you fear?

I challenge you to actually take a moment to stop and answer those two questions. Then ask yourself what it would feel like to do the same thing from a place of self confidence in your ability to do something for yourself. From a place of doing it because it would feel good for YOU.

Write down 10 things you love about your spouse.

Put them on a note in your phone and every morning open that note and read it out loud to yourself.

When we are stuck in a negative thought pattern your brain is conditioned to continue to feed more negative thoughts to you. It's just helping you out and doing what it is designed to do.

You have to be deliberate about how you direct your thoughts or your brain will always revert to finding what is wrong.

When you tell your brain to look for the positive it will start looking for what you are asking it.

This is going to take you some time, it did for me anyway. I had been so focused on everything he was doing wrong that I just couldn't think of anything positive. I started with this: he is my husband, he married me, he loves me. If you have to start with one thing then start with the one and just tell your brain to keep looking. Every day add something new to the list.

Soon you will notice yourself starting to feel better.

Soon you will notice the spark coming back.

Be patient friend, that fire has been out for a while, that fire pit is wet and soggy, it's going to take more than a few swipes of the match to dry it out and then build it to an inferno.

I absolutely love hearing the fun love stories that come back into people's relationships, all because of the work on one person's part.

I love seeing the smile on my client's faces when they tell me something loving they did.

Not to get someone to love them.

To show themselves how much they love themselves.

Three Reasons Why You Lack Self Confidence

I've always been a self help junkie.

As far back as I can remember I was learning how to exercise, meditate, eat right, but knowing what I know now I'm pretty sure it was mostly with the objective of looking the way society deemed I should look.

So I could feel acceptance.

Ok, maybe not the meditation, I think that was part of my deep desire to get connected spiritually.

Back to the feeling accepted.

This was always a struggle for me, always doing what I thought would make me fit in or be accepted.

I thought I would generate self confidence by proving myself, again to gain acceptance.

I was always looking for love from other people, by doing everything for others, until I discovered that the only true way to feel love was to start with loving myself.

As I started digging in to how to become self confident I started figuring out all of the things that I needed to start working on, let me share three of them with you:

We don't trust ourselves.

To see if you trust yourself go read my post where I give you one simple way to see if you trust yourself and then if you want to start working on how to change that, go check out my post with three steps to start trusting yourself. We don't know how to trust ourselves because we are unfamiliar with how to manage our mind making us feel out of control with our feelings and actions.

We are afraid to feel our emotions.

We're afraid of not feeling loved, of being rejected, of feeling sad so we do whatever we can to get people to like us, which then makes us feel loved...IF they treat us the way we want them to treat us. We don't know how to actually process our emotions so we just avoid them and avoid doing anything that could build our self confidence. Instead we just keep working on proving ourselves by being the best we can be at something that we deem might make us look confident.

Let me pause here to explain the difference. Confidence comes from repeatedly doing something until we do it well, this builds confidence in doing that thing. Self confidence comes from within. Self confidence is created by doing things and being willing to feel whatever emotion comes along because we are solid in our relationship with ourselves. We know that feeling humiliation is just a vibration in our body, that it won't kill us and has nothing to do with who we are.

Low opinion of ourselves.

We just don't think thoughts that are uplifting about ourselves. We are out there looking for it from others but we still don't believe them. We want people to tell us how good we look yet we can't just say "thank you" and agree with them. Instead we don't trust them, telling ourselves they are lying to make us feel good or to get something in return.

This my friends is the opposite of self confidence.

Becoming confident in ones self is a journey that you will never regret.

Becoming self confident is COMPLETELY possible for ANYONE, no matter what lies you've been telling yourself your whole life.

I strongly encourage you to embark on the journey and I believe I'm the perfect person to guide you through it. I've traveled the road, I've done the work, I've created so much self confidence that I believe I can do anything I decide to do.

I'm out there doing it by creating it for people like you, life starts right here where self confidence begins.

Three Steps To Building Self Trust

Today I had a consult with a woman who just couldn't make a decision so I started asking some questions about actions she was taking, or not taking in her life. She didn't trust her boss and then she admitted to several other people she didn't trust, ultimately uncovering that she didn't trust herself either. With her being able to see this she was able to see the impact of doing the work to start taking care of herself before she could really start building trust in outside relationships.

First let me suggest you read my post where I tell you one way to figure out if you trust yourself then come back to this post.

If you've already read that post or already have a good idea that you lack self trust, then you're in the right place, let's get you started on getting to a place where you can trust yourself.

Learn how to follow through on things you tell yourself you're going to do.

This, in my opinion, is the most important one of all and the easiest to start implementing because it's "actionable". Here are the actions you can take to start implementing follow through:
  1. Pick something simple you want to follow through on, let's use getting the laundry done
  2. Come up with all of the obstacles to getting that task done:
    1. I have three loads so I can't get it all done at once
  3. Come up with the strategies to getting it done:
    1. I'm going to do it all on Saturday, spaced out
  4. Schedule:
    1. 1 block of 15 min (to separate and get first load in machine)
    2. 1 block an hour later of 15 or 30 minutes (transfer & load, 30 min if you air dry some of your laundry)
    3. 1 block an hour later of 30 min (transfer/load/hang/fold)
    4. 1 block an hour later of 30 min (transfer/load/hang/fold)
    5. 1 block an hour later of 30 min (transfer/hang/fold/put away)
    6. 1 block some other time to fold and put away hanging laundry
  5. Actually do the task when it comes up, no matter what
  6. Evaluate what worked, what didn't work, what you'll change next time
The more you do what you say you're going to do the more trust you'll build in yourself and the more self confidence you build 💥

Learn how to experience any emotion.

This is a big part of what I teach. The only reason we don't do something is because of how we think it will make us feel. Once we learn that the worst thing that can happen is an emotion then we can decide that there is nothing you can't do. When you know that there isn't anything that you can't do you build trust in yourself and self confidence 💥

Make a decision to change your opinion of yourself.

Once you start believing that you are good, capable, strong, worthy, competent then you will start trusting yourself. I wrote in an earlier post about how this truly can just be something you decide to do. Though your brain is going to offer you a different thought, a thought that you've conditioned it to think, it's still possible to start today to change that thought into something that is actually going to serve you. Not only is this going to build trust but, yep, it's going to build your self confidence 💥

Building trust is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and for others. If you don't fully trust yourself, be honest, who will you trust?
